How to Combat This Atlanta Weather

Atlanta is showing up and out as a contender for the worst weather in America. Rain, a chill that might be able to compete with the North, and fog have all combined together to hit us hard – whether that be mentally and emotionally or physically. Maybe we’re dramatic, but this weather is disheartening to say the least.

In reality, cold, rainy spells are the perfect storm for Seasonal Affective Disorder (SAD), lack of motivation, and episodes of depression. Investing some little things can make quite the difference.

  1. Invest in a light therapy lamp that replicates outside natural light (the future is here, ladies and gentleman). It’s clearly up to us to create our own sunshine.
  2. Buy a plethora of candles and burn them. Your rainy day getaway is now a mediation zone.
  3. Realize a combination of being alone while it’s rainy is not helpful. Whether that calls for a game night or wine night, surround yourself.
  4. Stock up on Vitamin D – can’t get much outside, but supplements will do for now.
  5. Treat yourself. Whether that be ranging from an at home spa treatment to a weekend getaway, now it the time to do it. Your mental health may depend on it!
