Bebe Rexha Reveals Bipolar Disorder Diagnosis

Bebe Rexha has made herself known as the type to keep it real – and her latest confession is no different.
On Monday, Bebe revealed in a series of tweets that she has been diagnosed as bipolar.

Since the beginning of her career, Bebe has been vocal about her struggles with mental illness. Her lyrics painfully illustrate a mental warfare masked by catchy beats.
Her 2015 single, “I’m Gonna Show You Crazy,” was the beginning of her career as a solo artist. She set the stage as an artist who had no problem with discussing issues others would shy away from.
“There\’s a war inside my head/ Sometimes I wish that I was dead, I\’m broken/ So I call this therapist/ And she said, \”Girl, you can\’t be fixed, just take this.\”
She is one of the almost 6 million American adults who are living with the disorder. That figure doesn’t even begin to cover those who haven’t been diagnosed.
Bipolar disorder is classified as a manic-depressive disorder where one experiences periods of extreme highs, manic episodes, and depression. There may be periods in between those two polar opposites where someone with the disorder may feel neither of the two, so it can be difficult to diagnose.
In all, hopefully her bravery in opening up about her diagnosis brings awareness to those who might be living undiagnosed.
