I-285 Money Shower and Dunwoody Police Asking Those Return the $175k

Last Tuesday afternoon, drivers on I-285 near Dunwoody experienced a literal money shower on their commutes. A GardaWorld armored truck malfunctioned causing the door to fly open and litter the highway with $175,000.

Commuters pulled over to the side of the road and scattered to grab as much as they could. A video went viral of cars lining I-285 with license plates and faces fully in view.

The city of Dunwoody urged citizens to do the right thing and return the money, even posting a picture of one man who returned over $2,000. They also reminded people that they would come after those whose information was caught on camera. Even after news broke, more people raced to I-285 the next day in hopes of finding more money.

Dunwoody Police Department chastised citizens over Facebook, “There is no more money. Please stop.”

Who wants to return free money though? Would you?
