It’s time for “Yes or B.S.” We give you a statement, and you decide YES, it’s true . . . or NO, it’s total B.S. The topic is the cast of “Captain America: Civil War”, which opens nationwide this Friday.
1. Chris Evans turned down the role of Captain America twice before he accepted it.
Yes: He didn’t want to be that famous, and the studio wanted him to sign on for nine possible movies. Then they dropped it to six, and he said yes.
2. Henry Cavill plays Superman in it. And he says he’s so British, he’d never even heard of Captain America until he got the script.
B.S. We made that up, and he’s NOT actually in it. All the characters are from the Marvel universe, and Superman is from D.C. Comics.
3. Scarlett Johansson plays Black Widow. And she also played Macaulay Culkin’s baby sister in the original “Home Alone”movie, but she was uncredited.
B.S. But she was in “Home Alone 3”, which was about a totally different kid. So Macaulay wasn’t in it.
4. Paul Rudd plays Ant-Man in the movie, and he’s known Jon Hamm from “Mad Men” since college.
Yes: He actually dated Jon’s ex-girlfriend, so he didn’t really like him. But they’re friends now.
5. This is the sixth time Robert Downey Jr. has played Iron Man in a movie.
Yes: He’ll also be in the new Spider-Man movie next year. So that’ll be number seven.
