When it comes to love and support, family is great at being there but sometimes that love and support you need comes from friends. Demi Lovato fully understands that and wants her friends to know how much she appreciates that.
After suffering a near-fatal overdose last July, the “Cool for the Summer” singer entered rehab months later to complete a 90 days of treatment. The scary episode inspired Demi to completely change the route her life was heading down.
In order to start those changes, the songstress had to cut out toxic influences within her inner circle regardless of those friends who have always had her best interests at heart. Those friends for Lovato included her besties Sara Elizabeth Mitchell and Matthew Scott Montgomery, whom she created a thoughtful and meaningful Instagram post for on Tuesday (May 14). The post included a photo with a caption expressing her gratitude to them for helping her through her worst moments.
“Just me and my best friends living our best lives,” the “Sorry Not Sorry” began her message. “Thank you for never leaving me in my darkest moments, for always drying my tears.. even when they’re from watching Moana.”
“Thank you for being loyal, honest and so grateful for every little thing.. like crying because we swam with fish/sharks/stingray and coral reef,” she continued. “I’m so lucky to be best friends with two incredible souls who are so talented and creative because it inspires me daily. And you’re so supportive of me and every little thing I do..”
Lovato went on to thank her friends for even going the extra distance to travel abroad “when I’m struggling to make sure I’m okay” and for lending an objective ear to listen “when I was going through s**t.”
“You’re the greatest friends I’ve EVER had and our future together is so bright,” she wrote in closing, “I love you both more than you can imagine!!”
