MUNA has released Dancing on the Wall, a new album that continues the trio’s work in pop music with a focus on dance, emotion, and identity.
In a recent interview tied to the release, Katie Gavin, Naomi McPherson, and Josette Maskin discussed the album’s themes, including desire, heartbreak, burnout, politics, and queer community. The group described the project as a reflection of personal and collective experiences, with songs built around both vulnerability and movement.
The album follows MUNA’s 2022 self-titled release and marks another step in the band’s evolution after several years of increased visibility. Its sound includes dance-pop, electronic production, rock elements, and darker ’80s-inspired textures.
Dancing on the Wall includes songs such as It Gets So Hot, Dancing on the Wall, Eastside Girls, and Wannabeher. The project also places nightlife and physical release at the center of its world, pairing direct lyrics with tracks designed for movement.
